Following are several of the possible causes of dyslexia according to numerous theorists:
- Trauma related dyslexia
This refers to learning problems resulting from an accident or some other type of brain trauma. Car accidents, falls, and other head trauma fall under this category. Some believe that inflammation resulting from immunizations can also trigger learning disabilities.
- Developmental Dyslexia
Sometimes referred to as secondary dyslexia, this theory proposes that a crisis occurs during fetal development that causes dyslexia. This might be related to hormonal changes or chemical exposure.
- Neurological deficit or misfiring
This may be explained in any number of ways, but generally refers to a lack of communication or coordination between the right and left hemispheres of the brain.
