Dyslexia Treatments:
Brain Research-Based Therapy Techniques

Dyslexia can be tough to treat - and dyslexia treatments may be "a dime a dozen" - but how do you know what really works?

It is best to research your alternatives, and be sure that there is research behind the program that you choose.

Educational Therapy, based on brain research, can be very effective for those with dyslexia.

Here is one mother's story. It began here (Testimonial #2) with this boy's caring mom explaining that, even with one on one instruction at home, her son still wasn't reading by the third grade.

"His printing was very poor and he couldn't remember how to make some letters, and he made many letters and numbers backwards. People kept telling me he would grow out of it, that he was a late bloomer, etc. But by the end of third grade, I knew something was wrong.

A friend told me about how NILD (therapy) had helped her daughter so I read the website and talked to Lisa and was convinced that we needed to try this.

Before we began, my son was evaluated by an educational psychologist who determined that he did have some learning disabilities.

He just completed his third year of NILD and we have been very pleased with his progress. I made sure that he always did his homework and exercises. It wasn't easy, but I know it was what he needed. Lisa always answered any questions or explained why or how everything was to be done.

He in now reading on grade level and his printing/cursive skills are very good.

He still struggles with school work - it will always be a challenge, but now he has a good foundation to build upon."
